The Milwaukee Academy of Medicine is a 132 year old organization dedicated to the advancement of science and medicine, education, professional collegiality, public service, and the preservation of our medical heritage. Believed to the the second oldest academy in the United States, our organization is comprised of physicians from all disciplines, including practitioners, and academicians located throughout Southeastern Wisconsin.
Meetings are held 8 times per year, from September through May, with the exception of December, on the third Tuesday of the month, from 6-9 p.m. After the reception hour, there is a dinner, followed by an invited guest on a medical or relevant socio-economic topic of current interest. Our meetings provide an ideal setting for enhancement of relationships between the town and the gown. Some of the program speakers have included Authors Morris Berman,Ph.D. and Richard Selzer, M.D., as well as past Presidential candidate Howard Dean, Sid Wolfe, M.D. of Public Citizen, Health Policy & Ethics Analyst Emily Friedman.
